Ioana Raluca Olaru was born on March 3, 1989 in Bucharest, Romania. She is a professional tennis player.
Biography and Career :
Her parents' names are Adrian and Paula Olaru. Besides her they have one daughter, Cristina Olaru. She started playing tennis when she was only seven years old. Her favorite surface is clay and her coach is Silviu Zancu.
Until now (2007) she has won seven ITF single tournaments and six ITF doubles tournaments and none WTA tournament. She produced a big surprise at the 2007 Roland Garros Tournament after she won against players like Julia Vakulenko, who was the 30th seed and reached the third round. There she met Ana Ivanovic and her victories stopped there.
In 2005 when she was a junior player she played the final of the French Open. Her opponen
t was Agnes Szavay, who finally won the trophy. That year she also lost the doubles final. Her partner was Amina Rakhim and they faced the team of Agnes Szavay and Victoria Azarenka.
On June 8, 2007 she was ranked on the seventy-eight position of Top 100. This is the highest position she has ever reached. She is a young and talented player and after the victories at the French Open specialists offered her credit.
She could be a great champion, but not without hard training and good luck. Let's hope that we will see her in the appropriate future winning the first WTA title. She is one of Romania's great hopes and she doesn't want to disappoint her country.
