Podobedova Sventlana

Svetlana Podobedova (born May 25, 1986) is a Kazakh weightlifter of Russian descent.

Svetlana Podobedova has broken three world records in the women's 75-kilogram category at the weightlifting world championships.

Podobedova lifted 134 kilograms (295 pounds) in the snatch, improving on the world record she set last year by 2 kilograms. She also set a new world record by lifting 161 kilograms (354 pounds) in the clean and jerk, increasing her previous record by 1 kilogram from 2009.

The third world record came in the aggregate 295 kilograms (649 pounds) that she lifted Thursday evening. She set the previous world record of 292 kilograms (642 pounds) .

Svetlana Tsarukaeva

Svetlana Tsarukaeva (born 25 December 1987) is a Russian weightlifter.

She won the 2006 Women's Junior World Championships in the 58 kg category, with a total of 231 kg.

Tsarukaeva participated in the women's -58 kg category at the 2006 World Weightlifting Championships and won the silver medal, finishing behind Qiu Hongmei. She snatched 108 kg and clean and jerked an additional 125 kg for a total of 233 kg, 4 kg behind winner Qiu.

At the 2007 World Weightlifting Championships she won the silver medal in the 63 kg category, with a total of 250 kg.

Tsarukaeva entered the 2008 Summer Olympics as the favourite for the 63 kg event, but she failed in all three of her attempt at 107 kg in the snatch and did not qualify for the clean & jerk. It was originally reported that she deliberately hit her head on the wall in frustration whilst exiting to the warm-up area, but video makes it clear that it was accidental, leaving her in floods of tears.

Svetlana Shimkova

Svetlana Shimkova (born 18 September 1983) is a Russian weightlifter.

At the 2005 World Weightlifting Championships she won the silver medal in the 63 kg category, with a world record clean and jerk of 139 kg, which was surpassed in the same contest by Pawina Thongsuk with 140 kg.

She won gold in the 63 kg category at the 2005, and again at the 2006 European Weightlifting Championships, in 2006 with another world record clean and jerk of 141 kg.
Shimkova participated in the women's -63 kg class at the 2006 World Weightlifting Championships and won the silver medal, finishing behind Quyang Xiaofang. She snatched 108 kg and clean and jerked an additional 133 kg for a total of 241 kg, 5 kg behind winner Quyang.

At the 2007 World Weightlifting Championships she participated in the 69 kg category, with 112 kg ranked 4th in the snatch, but failed to lift in the clean and jerk.

Qiu Hongmei

Qiu Hongmei (born 2 March 1983) is a Chinese weightlifter.

Qiu participated in the women's -58 kg class at the 2006 World Weightlifting Championships and won the gold medal, snatching 107 kg and clean and jerking an additional 130 kg for a total of 237 kg.

At the 2007 World Weightlifting Championships, she won gold again in the women's -58 kg class.

With 141 kg, she holds the world record in clean and jerk in the women's -58 kg class.

Liu Chunhong

Liu Chunhong (born January 29, 1985 in Yantai, Shandong) is a Chinese weightlifter.

At the 2003 World Weightlifting Championships she won in the 69 kg category with a total of ten new world records and junior world records.

She competed in the 2004 Summer Olympics, and won the gold medal in the 69 kg class.

At the 2007 World Weightlifting Championships she won the snatch competition in the 69 kg category with 121 kg, and won the silver medal lifting in total 271 kg.

At the 2008 Summer Olympics she won the gold medal in the 69 kg class, while setting new records in the snatch and clean and jerk with a lift of 128 kg and 158 kg respectively for a world record total of 286 kg. Her world record total of 286 kg set in Beijing would have been enough win and set the Olympic record set in Beijing, as well as tie the world record held by Svetlana Podobedova in the 75 kg category (heavyweight). She became the first ever woman to defend her Olympic title in weightlifting.
